Emotional motivators:
- Aim: using in-depth market research techniques to understand the emotional motivators behind getting people on their bikes.
- Market research campaign developed in conjuction with Business School at the University of the West of England.
- Campaign ran between March and June 2011
- Used on-street billboards, bus advertising and print media.
Radio advertising (March 2010)
- Aim: to promote cycling to car drivers during the rush hour period
- Ran between March and April 2010
- Reached approximately 80,000 listeners on 106.5 Jack FM Bristol and 107.2 Star FM Bristol

Bus advertising (Autumn 2010)
Aim: promote cycling to bus travellers and drivers sat behind buses
- Running between July and October 2010
- Covering services running through Lawrence Hill, Muller Road and Hengrove
- Using themes of "When I travel by bike..." or "Because I travel by bike..."
Get Cycling theme (Spring and Summer 2010) - range of six posters
- Aim: raise awareness of cycling's increased popularity
- Running in publications across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, including: Venue, Big Issue, Bristol Secretary, Folio, Whats On Bristol,
- Running on outdoor advertising sites at leisure centres and bus stops
- Complementary radio advertising running on Jack and Star FM

Promoting cycle training (January 2010)
- Aim: to encourage readers to consider cycle training
- Ran in Folio magazine and What's On Bristol in January 2010

Facebook advertising
- Running periodically to encourage Facebook users to visit the website
- 70,000 "impressions" per day
- Generating 15-20 website visits per day
Christmas advert (December 2009)
- Ran in Venue, Folio magazine and the Big Issue during November and December
- Encouraged visits to the website

Promoting good cycling behaviour (December 2009)
- Running between December 2009 and February 2010
- Four designs, two of each installed: Be aware and cycle with care; Light up and cycle safely; Drivers give cyclists space; and Thank you for cycling in Bristol.

- Non-permanent display at twelve locations around the city
- To promote the Better By Bike website
