Bike4Life aims to help people, especially children, to cycle more often, so that they gain the health benefits of regular cycling.  It's part of Change4Life, a nationwide movement that  helps everyone to eat well and move more so that they are fitter, healthier and live longer.

The health benefits of cycling are absolutely massive, with regular cyclists living on average two years longer, and they're fitter, healthier and slimmer.  And because they save on petrol and bus fares, they're wealthier too!

The Bike4Life toolkit is packed with ideas to get families out on their bikes together. Cycling is a great way to exercise and it can be bags of fun.

When children start cycling they'll be able to explore their local surroundings and discover new places, as well as benefiting from being active in the fresh air. Cycling is good for everyone's health, especially children. It counts towards children's 60 active minutes per day - recommended for 5-16 year olds - and can give everyone a good cardiovascular workout without putting stress on joints.

There are risks with cycling, but these are comparable with other everyday activities, such as walking, and you can make it even safer by getting training.  According to health professionals, the real risks of cycling are minimal, the health benefits are huge and outweigh the risks by at least twenty to one.  See Cycling and Health for the facts and figures.  What else makes you fitter, healthier, slimmer, and saves you money?!

Visit the Bike4Life website and download the supporters packs to get everything you need to help families get up and about on their bikes.
