Adult cycle training

Adult cycle training can help all sorts of riders, from complete beginners to people just looking to improve their skills on the road.

Rose Ain, a spritely 59 year old from South Gloucestershire took a lesson in 2011. She said:

"I had some cycle training from South Gloucestershire Council after the Roadshow [came to my place of work].

The training lady was brilliant! I now feel like I can cycle with confidence and even when cars cause me trouble I know what to do, and I know all the cycle routes now so I can just use them instead. I cycle everyday now!"

How it works

Qualified instructors can come to you, at a time and place that suits, to provide personalised training and get you more confident on the roads.

In partnership with your instructor, a plan will be put together for each training session, with consideration to your abilities, aims and end goals.

If basic skills are in place, or once they are mastered, cycle training can take place on the roads.

All cyclists are eligible for up to three one-hour sessions and complete beginners (non riders) are eligible for up to five one-hour sessions.
