Bristol and South Gloucestershire councils are leading on the Cycling City project, working with Bath & North East Somerset and North Somerset councils to promote cycling across the region.
Anyone in Bristol can borrow a good quality, fully-equiped bicycle, for free, for up to one month.
Take a look at the bike descriptions below and select which bike (including make, model and size) would be best for you, then email betterbybike@bristol.gov.uk to arrange collection.
You'll need to leave a deposit of £100, which is returnable if the bike comes back undamaged with all the accessories.
All bikes come with lights, lock, pump, puncture repair kit and rack, and a pannier to put them all in. The pannier is big enough for lunch and a change of clothing as well.

7005-series aluminium frame. This frame helps make the bike light enough to ride uphill without too much effort (even if you're only moderately fit).
